The Youth Engagement Lecturer (English or Maths) is a dedicated post within the 16–18 English and Maths Gateway Study Programme — a NEET prevention programme designed to re-engage young people aged 16–18 who have not yet achieved the qualifications needed to progress to Level 2 vocational provision. The primary purpose of this post is to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed English or Maths teaching (depending on experience) within a study programme model, while playing an active pastoral and mentoring role with learners who face significant barriers to engagement and achievement. The postholder will be a consistent, trusted presence for their cohort, working closely with the Programme Lead, Youth Engagement Lecturer (Employability), and vocational delivery partners to create a stable, aspirational and supportive learning environment.


Qualifications

* Level 3 or above qualification in English Language, Linguistics, Mathematics or a related subject
* Level 2 qualification in English and Maths (or above)
* Teaching qualification in line with current FE requirements, or willingness to obtain one within an agreed perios
* Recent CPD in trauma-informed practice, inclusive learning or working with young people at risk
* Teaching or training experience in English Language, Functional Skills or Maths
* Experience of working with 16–18 learners, particularly those with low prior attainment or complex needs
