37.5 hours per week
Working alongside Allied Health Professional staff you will contribute to the delivery and management of Adult Inpatient Therapy services. This will include ensuring the delivery of Occupational Therapy and AHP assessments, individualised treatment programmes and group work in our inpatient settings in line with the Model of Human Occupation and Recovery Model. Sitting within the Adult urgent care inpatient AHP team, you will be a highly valued member of the multi-disciplinary team and actively involved in MDT decision making processes.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide clinical leadership and operational management to the AHP Therapy team within Wolverhampton adult inpatient localities within the Black Country. These team is based within Penn Hospital. There has been a substantial investment in inpatient AHP services as the trust is committed to providing a high-quality therapeutic service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will be joining the Trust at an exciting time as we embark on our adult inpatient journey to deliver a world class inpatient therapy provision to our Adult inpatient service. This post offers you an opportunity to extend your knowledge, skills and development within this rewarding leadership role at a time of transformation of inpatient mental health services. As an Occupational Therapy Team Lead - Band 7 you will contribute to the operational and professional leadership of AHP colleagues, including, support workers, Physiotherapist and Speech and Language therapists within inpatient adult mental health services across Wolverhampton inpatient.
The post holder will be a key member of the Mental Health Services Clinical and Management Team and will contribute to the overall management of those services. As an Occupational Therapy Team lead you will be responsible to the Service Manager and AHP Lead for Adult Mental Health, having designated responsibility for professional leadership and co-ordination of the AHP team as well as delivering complex occupational therapy assessments and interventions to Adults within inpatient services.

Essential criteria
4. Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy
5. •Masters level qualification relevant to post or relevant masters level clinical experience

6. •Relevant management course.

7. •Documented evidence of continuing practice development.
8. •Evidence of self-directed learning.
9. •Significant experience as a band 6/7 occupational therapist in a relevant clinical field or fields, including extensive mental health experience.
10. •Extensive experience of supervision, appraisal and development of occupational therapy staff and students.
11. •Significant experience of multi-disciplinary working including development of effective networks/partnerships.
12. •Active participation in audit, service evaluation and research in relevant clinical field.
13. •Experience of involvement in quality improvement or service developments.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
14. •Excellent working knowledge of occupational therapy practice in adult/ older adult mental health settings.
15. •Thorough knowledge of statutory and legal frameworks within which mental health services operate.
16. •Effective working knowledge of health and social care policy, including the social care context of mental health services.
Desirable criteria
17. •Thorough knowledge of the current management of mental health services.
