Research and Engagement Officer – Fenland SOIL
Location: Based in the Cambridgeshire Fens (travel required)
Reports to: Project Manager
About the Role
Fenland SOIL is working to support sustainable food production while reducing emissions from lowland agricultural peat. We’re looking for a Research and Engagement Officer to support farmer and stakeholder engagement through the Farmer’s Dialogue, our membership and facilitator group.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
* Contribute to grant writing and funding applications
* Manage internal and external tasks to ensure project progression
* Plan and deliver Fenland SOIL events
* Lead outreach and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
* Support the day‑to‑day delivery of the Farmer’s Dialogue
* Represent Fenland SOIL at events and conferences
* Carry out additional duties as required
* Degree (or equivalent) in geography, environmental/soil sciences, agriculture, or similar
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, especially with farmers
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Excellent spoken and written English
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Passion for sustainability and a proactive approach
* Confidence communicating via meetings, email, and phone
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable (but not essential)
* Basic GIS skills
* Familiarity with agricultural environments
