Behaviour Support Assistant – Full-Time Location: Hull | Start Date: ASAP | Pay: Dependent on experience GSL Education is working with a specialist Alternative Provision in Hull to recruit a Behaviour Support Assistant. This rewarding, full-time role involves supporting young people with SEMH and SEND needs to re-engage with learning through positive relationships, structure, and consistent support. Role Overview As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will: Support learners displaying challenging behaviour linked to SEND and SEMH needs. Work 1:1 and in small groups to promote engagement, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour. Assist pupils in classrooms and during unstructured times such as break and lunch. Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques. Act as a positive role model, building trust and respect with pupils. Collaborate closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and leadership to ensure consistency. Person Specification We are looking for candidates who: Have experience or interest in SEMH, SEND, behaviour support, or youth work. Are calm, consistent, and resilient, even in challenging situations. Demonstrate strong communication and relationship-building skills. Can manage challenging behaviour professionally and empathetically. Are genuinely committed to helping young people who have struggled in mainstream education.
