Overview

An exciting opportunity to join the Acute Medicine team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals within the Division of Integrated Medicine and Emergency Care. In addition to our Consultant vacancy we are looking for the right person to lead our services as the new Head of Acute Medicine. This role is a 2 programmed activity (PA) time commitment with a responsibility payment of £10K, for a term of three years subject to satisfactory annual reviews. The Emergency Village work is complete and there is a modern Same Day Emergency Care department co-located to the Emergency Department, plus a large Acute Medical Unit and Short Stay Unit.

The Consultant team oversees and leads daily reviews of the medical take across these areas, supporting and encouraging patient care to be provided in the right place, first time, with targets recognised and achieved.

We are a busy, fast-paced learning environment with a large team of Consultants, Registrars, junior doctors, ACPs and Physician Associates. The medical on-call service is coordinated through here and is staffed by a mix of trainees and substantive colleagues. We also host student placements in this service.

Please contact us to arrange an informal visit to meet the department and team.

* Participate in relevant audit and quality assurance processes.
