CONTRACT TYPE: Fixed Term Contract ending 9 March 2026.
This is a short term contract and we are looking for an immediate start.
DEPARTMENT: BBC Sport
LOCATION: Salford
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE:
£28,500 - £38,500 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced journalist to join BBC Sport's digital team. This role involves covering live events and you will also contribute to the wider BBC Sport digital team by supporting day-to-day operations and participating in a rota system.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

Authoring live text commentaries.
•
Writing match reports and feature articles.
•
Generating and executing ideas across BBC Sport platforms in collaboration with your team and the wider organisation.
•
Using your network of contacts to source and write compelling news stories.
•
Ensuring BBC Sport remains at the forefront of sports news.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
•
Proven experience writing for an established publication, including live texts or blogs
•
A creative mindset with a strong ability to generate ideas and work collaboratively
•
Ability to adapt stories for TV, radio, digital, and social media platforms
•
A deep understanding of sport and audience-focused storytelling
•
Demonstrated commitment to diverse audiences, including experience championing women's sport
