Our exciting plans have enabled us to create a brand new opportunity for an experienced Special Projects Manager to join us on a 12 month fixed term contract.(Please note that only candidates who meet the essential criteria in terms of extensive construction related experience AND a full UK drivers licence will be considered).About the roleAs Special Projects Manager you will be part of our development team overseeing and coordinating a number of projects of maximum value £500k to achieve company aims, satisfying multiple internal stakeholders and our customers via excellent communication, quality and delivery standards. You will be required to be the lead manager, liaising directly with all contractors, external consultants, suppliers and colleagues to see all projects through to completion and handover within set timescales and budgets ensuring at all times minimum disruption to our customers.You’ll work closely with many stakeholders including the Operations, Sales & Marketing teams as well as direct face to face liaison with customers.Key duties will includeAssist with obtaining specialist reports, surveys and recommendationsIdentify project timelines, key risks & budget requirements for approvalCoordinate tender process and/or appointment of contractorsEngage all stakeholders in relation to the project to ensure all parties are fully on board, dealing with any queries or questionsUndertake pre-start meetings with key stakeholders and provide regular reports on progress throughout the duration of the projectPlanning and monitoring of the construction operation within the constraints of the budget, producing regular reports to the Development Director on programme, cost, quality, risks & health and safetyEnsuring quality standards are maintained throughout the site and construction process.Ensure the highest health and safety standards are maintained on site at all times.Ensure all documentation is produced and handed over in accordance with the company’s standard handover requirementsIt is expected that you will be making site visits 3-4 days per week, so the role will require extensive travelling across a wide geographical area.About youEssentially you'll come with extensive construction experience (ideally contractor background), who is capable of understanding building design, demonstrates strong management of contractors and is a self-starter in driving projects to completion.You will have a track record in managing contractors, suppliers and consultants and you’ll have experience of project and budget management.This role does require direct liaison with our customers and as such you will need to empathise with our customers and ‘put yourself in their shoes' so great communication skills are critical.QualificationsQualification in related field, such as construction management.Construction Manager’s CSCS card.Ideally hold a SMSTS card (or equivalent)Full UK driving licence and own vehicle is essentialSkills and KnowledgeSound knowledge of construction and M&E systemsOrganisational, scheduling and planning skillsStrong Health and Safety knowledgeAbility to produce effective project timelinesStrong IT skills - we use Google WorkspaceMultitasking of a number of projects running concurrently at any point in time.Your benefits & RewardsThis is a 12 month fixed term contract role offering a basic salary of circa £65,000 per annum (pro-rata).
