Sports Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £83 - £100 per day
Are you passionate about sports and eager to support students in their physical education journey? If so, GSL Education are currently looking to appoint an exceptional Sports Teaching Assistant to join a Client Secondary Schools in York, North Yorkshire.
Sports Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
* Enhance the skills and abilities of individual athletes or the team as a whole.
* Support teachers in delivering engaging and interactive PE lessons.
* Assist in organizing and supervising a range of sports activities both in and outside the classroom.
* Provide 1:1 or small group support to students to help them improve their skills
* Help manage and supervise students during physical activities.
* Support the planning and preparation of teaching materials and sports resources.
* Foster a positive and inclusive environment, encouraging students to engage in physical activity.
Sports Teaching Assistant Requirements:
* Relevant qualifications in sport (e.g. Level 2 or 3 in Sports Coaching, PE, or similar) would be advantageous but not essential.
* Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational or sports setting.
* Knowledge of basic sports injury prevention, management, and rehabilitation techniques is crucial.
* A proactive, adaptable approach with a willingness to assist across different areas of the school’s PE department.
* Hold an enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply a for a new one through GSL Education.
* A strong understanding of the rules, strategies, and techniques of specific sport is essential.
