Overview
Patient Pathway Assistant (Radiology Receptionist). The closing date is 02 February 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a busy team delivering Radiology Services to people within Essex and surrounding areas. The role is varied and involves being the first point of contact for people wanting to access our services. An excellent interpersonal manner is essential.
We are looking for enthusiastic people to be part of the admin team providing a full range of administrative support including bookings clerk and reception duties. The post holder needs to be an excellent team player with excellent organisational skills. Experience of working within a hospital environment would be an advantage but is not essential.
The role will involve being the access point for patients into the service. The ability to maintain an accurate computer appointment system for patients is key. Reception cover will also be required as part of this role.
You will be working alongside other administrative staff in the role. Full training and support / supervision will be provided.
The job role is 37.5 hours per week, four days per week. Normal working hours are 8:00am to 6:00pm. Some services start at 7:30am; others finish at 8:00pm; therefore some late working will be necessary. You will be expected to work weekends on a rostered basis. The job role is based at Broomfield Hospital, with some sites including Braintree and Maldon also necessary.

Main duties of the job
The Radiology Admin Team consists of approximately 35–40 staff. We are a busy department, covering a variety of reception areas, the appointments office, and occasionally working across sites. We are a friendly, supportive and hard-working team supporting our patients' needs and clinical colleagues at all times.
Your duties include but are not limited to the following:
* To work as part of a team providing an efficient and effective computerised appointment system including reception duties within the Radiology Department, ensuring a high quality of service. Patients and visitors are welcomed, and their individual needs met in an appropriate and courteous manner.
* Booking appointments with patients over the telephone, as well as dealing with cancellations and subsequent bookings using the computerised systems.
* Booking clinics from the Radiology Waiting Lists adhering to the Patient Access Plan and breach date.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
* Maths & English GCSE Equivalent - Grace C or above
* Experience with working with the public face to face
* Experience in a hospital environment
* Experience of call centre environment
Knowledge & Experience
* Demonstrate an understanding of NHS procedures
* Experience as a receptionist or call centre agent ideally in a NHS Trust
* Driving Licence
Personal
* Ability to work from a range of hospital sites
