We are currently recruiting for a Production Manager to join our Production Support team. The role involves working closely with students and tutors across multiple genres of student productions, ranging from animation to documentary, and fiction to live television. The NFTS is a full-service studio with the resources in-house to produce and complete work to the very highest standards, making more than a hundred and fifty film, television and games projects each year.

The successful candidate will have experience of managing budgets and supporting productions, along with excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines. Applicants need to be excellent communicators, possessing strong interpersonal skills, an analytical mindset and an enthusiasm for working with creative talent at the start of their careers.

Full time NFTS employees are entitled to 20 days holiday a year, as well as any public holidays and an additional 11 fixed days leave at Christmas and Easter. While our standard week is 9.30-5.30 (35 hours per week), we are supportive of employees wishing to work flexibly and will consider a range of options, please include any flexible working options as part of your application. Job Description

Reporting to: Head of Production

Purpose of role
This is a key role in the School’s Production Support Team, working under the direction of the School’s Head of Production to manage and oversee a wide range of production activities across the NFTS. Including the scheduling and budget management of student productions and curriculum workshops by providing accurate and timely support to students, tutors and other members of the Production Support team.


Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Managing student films across a wide range of genres, including but not limited to factual documentaries, scripted & unscripted television, animation and dramas, to ensure they are delivered on schedule, on budget and within the H&S parameters laid out.
* Working closely with the curriculum Heads of Department to ensure slates of films are delivered to our key principle of working safely whilst remaining on schedule and on budget within the parameters set and addressing the learning outcomes for all students.
* Working with our Production Safety Manager to support students on the preparation of Risk Assessments, and safe management of productions.
* Supporting students in the preparation of production planning, including production paperwork, albert carbon footprints, budgets, insurances and Risk Assessments during pre‑production and shooting periods.
* Advising on safe and efficient methods of production to ensure cost effectiveness and best use of funds, including tutoring students to ensure budgeted expenditure is monitored and productions remain on budget. To support float clearances, approve payments and contracts, and financial wrap of productions in a timely manner.
* Advising students in relation to clearance of IP, including music and archive, for use in student films and ensuring correct paperwork is issued and signatures obtained to complete final delivery paperwork.
* Assist in keeping the Production Support pages of the School’s intranet (WorkVivo) and Shared Folders updated to ensure students, tutors and curriculum teams have access to up to date and correct documentation.
* Booking and contracting crew and technical staff, and ensuring Right to Work checks are completed.
* Dealing with staff and student queries and requests for assistance on student films and workshop projects.
* Support the Production Support Coordinator in the management of systems for booking stages, vehicles, carnets, and general administration duties.
* Any other reasonable duties as required.


Person Specification

Essential

* Previous experience in film or TV production
* Previous experience helping to manage budgets, schedules and risk assessments
* Excellent organisational skills including the ability to work to tight deadlines
* Close attention to detail
* Numeracy and analytical skills
* Strong IT skills, in particular excel
* Ability to work as a member of a team and to show initiative
* Interest in management of productions – in particular clearances, cost management, H&S, crewing, insurance, contracts
* Good oral and written communication skills

Desirable

* Understanding or experience of overseas productions
* Working knowledge of documentary and unscripted productions
* Experience in mentoring or supporting new crew and/or students
