The Group Accountant position is varied and covers specific cost categories, group reporting and overhead departmental P&L ownership, for all divisions.
The primary focus, is to take ownership of the analysis and subsequent reporting within the deadlines set, working with the Management Accountants where required. Ensuring that information provided to the Head of Management Accounts and Head of Departments is accurate and any variances justified.
This role will have a heavy focus on excel and analysis of monthly activity to budgets, forecasts and month on month variances. It is therefore key that you can demonstrate having attention to detail, especially during time pressured periods within the month.

Responsibilities
Accounts Preparation:
* Prepare and post prepayments, accruals, depreciation, and amortisation for all Group Overheads.
* Manage the fleet control account, ensuring Divisional P&Ls are exact and timely.
* Ensure balance sheet working files are updated accordingly throughout the month end process.
* Take ownership of departmental P&Ls and reporting for various companies.
* Create monthly balance sheet reconciliations, to include explanation for any adjustments required.
* Working closely with the Management Accountants to inform them of the month's activity, highlighting key points.
Cost Analysis:
* Review the P&L for activity performed and seek justification for any variances.
* Provide detailed variance analysis and information to Head of Management Accounts and other budget holders.
* Ability to provide detailed excel spreadsheet modelling for analysis for fleet costs.
* Preparation of accurate Group reporting, analysis, and commentary for Group monthly packs.
* Engage with the Business Line Financial Controllers, providing insight into the results, noting key areas of interest.
Ad Hoc Tasks:
* Responsible for financial year end Group submissions and liaising with auditors to ensure deliverables are met.
* Provide all information to Group in relation to statutory reporting and review of draft statutory accounts.
* Support the budgeting / forecasting process, by providing information and analysis.
* Improve timing, content and accuracy of both financial and management reporting.
* Maintain procedure and process documents, while seeking continuous improvements
* Other ad hoc duties as required.
Requirements
Essential:
* Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA) with minimum 2 years management accounts experience gained in industry
* Previous experience of working cross divisions / departments
* Confident, engaging presenter, with the ability to discuss in detail all variances
* Questions and where appropriate challenges the status quo to ensure continuous improvement
* Excel skill at advanced level
* Strong organisational and analytical skills
* Able to demonstrate flexibility by adapting work in line with changing priorities
* Demonstrates team workings and willingness to help others.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of Sage 200 an advantage
* Power Query / BI Experience.
