About the opportunity
Energy Programmes is one of our newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Energy Power station.
Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.
Amentum are currently recruiting a Civil Engineer who be the technical lead reviewing and accepting the changes to the design raised by the site contractor, responsible for managing interfaces between the construction contractors and the designers. Being part of NNB’s Engineering Directorate and working on a day-to-day basis on site with the Construction Team, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and dynamic working environment. Key responsibilities will be:
1. The approval of design changes proposed by the contractor or designer through Request for Information, field Change Request or Non-Conformance Report
2. Support the JDO in the handover of Design Packages released for construction and initiated the delegated responsibilities through this process
3. Ensure that processes comply with project quality procedures
4. Management of CDM aspects relating to the design changes during the construction period, including discharging the role of principle designer
5. Responsible for the nuclear safety acceptance of the design by carrying out surveillance on the design changes during construction
6. Safety case/golden thread: in the review and acceptance process, ensure the high-level safety case and the design have a clear golden thread to support operations
Here's What You'll Need:
Qualifications
7. Advanced degree in civil or structural engineering subject, civil or structural Engineering
8. Design process and design activities (preferably related to Nuclear Industry)
9. Working knowledge of Concrete design codes (e.g. Eurocode 2)
10. Design with hazard & accidental safety cases
11. Working within UK CDM regulations and in a highly regulated industry
12. Delivery-oriented and ability to set action plans and meet deadlines
13. Ability to work independently and under pressure
14. Proactive, pragmatic and adopting a practical approach to resolve issues
