PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To lead the region by developing a strategic plan to ensure company growth aligned with the group's ambitions, including managing the Profit & Loss responsibility for the region. The role focuses on sales revenue, volumes, and profit targets, with a strong emphasis on people development. The goal is to drive the business and team to be the No.1 solution provider, creating sustainable growth while maintaining effective relationships with suppliers and customers.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties include, but are not limited to:
* Setting regional budgets and managing accounts in collaboration with the FD and finance team.
* Chairing regional sales meetings.
* Developing and executing strategies for suppliers, hauliers, and customers within the region.
* Building and maintaining relationships through regular visits, conversations, and entertainment.
* Leading and developing the trading team to achieve and exceed sales targets using KPIs for performance management.
* Identifying new opportunities and collaborating with the National Commercial Director for development.
* Managing the regional sales techniques and understanding of systems to ensure comprehensive risk assessment.
* Training the team on effective and compliant selling processes.
* Overseeing regional transport, analyzing risks, and identifying process improvements.
* Managing credit limits and liaising with credit control and risk management, including signing off credit notes/UHCs.
* Setting KPIs and managing sales administration in coordination with central and regional teams.
* Planning and implementing training and development for the regional team, including recruitment.
* Contributing to business process improvements through best practices.
* Collaborating with the fixed assets, major projects, and commercial teams to explore commercial opportunities.
* Ensuring compliance with HR and health & safety regulations to promote a safe and equitable workplace.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, AND QUALIFICATIONS
* Must have a full UK Driving License (Essential).
* Willing to work from various offices in the South, including Houghton Regis, Tilbury, Bury St Edmunds, and Shoreham.
* Preferably 3 years in a management role with P&L responsibilities, but attitude, character, and leadership potential are highly valued.
* Proven ability to identify and execute success factors for business growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
* Strong leadership skills focused on customer satisfaction and loyalty.
* Hands-on leadership style with financial acumen.
* Excellent negotiation skills at all organizational levels.
* Effective time management and deadline adherence.
* Attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for customer service.
* Understanding of industry trends and best practices.
* Ability to perform under pressure and adapt to changing environments.
