Alternative Provision English Teacher - Re-engagement Support | September Start Tradewind Recruitment is working with partner schools to recruit a dedicated Alternative Provision English Teacher to support students returning to education after extended absences due to mental health challenges, physical health conditions, or other barriers to mainstream attendance. This is a highly rewarding role for a teacher who is passionate about helping young people rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive outcomes through personalised support. Key Responsibilities Deliver engaging English lessons tailored to students working within alternative provision settings Support pupils with re-engagement into education following prolonged absence from school Build positive, trusting relationships with young people who may have experienced barriers to learning Adapt lessons to meet a range of academic abilities and emotional needs Work closely with pastoral teams, SENCOs, external agencies, and families Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment Track progress and support learners with achievable academic targets Encourage attendance, participation, and confidence in returning to structured education The Ideal Candidate Will Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Previous experience teaching English at secondary level Experience supporting students with SEMH, anxiety, trauma, or medical needs Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach Experience within alternative provision, outreach, SEND, or specialist settings desirable Ability to differentiate learning and deliver a personalised curriculum Role Overview September start Temp-to-perm opportunities available Full-time role Supportive school partnerships through Tradewind Recruitment Opportunity to make a significant impact on vulnerable learners This role is ideal for a teacher who values restorative practice, inclusive teaching, and understands that education can be transformational when delivered with patience, consistency, and care.
