Role
Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Location: Shepton Mallet
Shift: 4 on 4 off
Pay: £53,000 per annum + Bonus
Role summary: You will join a well-established manufacturer that combines traditional craft with cutting-edge technology to maintain high-volume production across a busy site. You will contribute to a collaborative, forward-thinking engineering department in a varied and hands-on role.
Responsibilities
* Maintain and fault-find on a wide range of process and packing equipment across the site, focusing on keeping machinery running safely and efficiently.
* Carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance tasks and support reactive repairs.
* Work with PLCs (I/O), inverters, heating elements, servo motors, sensors, etc.
* Perform mechanical work on conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, shafts, tensioners, and bearings.
* Support maintenance of high-speed packing lines, fillers, pasteurisers, and inspection systems.
* Complete and improve Preventative Planned Maintenance (PPM) routines and contribute to OEE targets.
* Record and report maintenance activity clearly and accurately.
* Support site projects and continuous improvement activities.
Experience & Qualifications
* Time-served or fully qualified engineer (City & Guilds / HNC / HND or similar).
* Able to carry out electrical fault finding.
* Confident fault finding on PLC-controlled equipment is beneficial but not essential.
* Comfortable working with motors, pumps, conveyors, and gearbox systems.
* Previous experience in FMCG or food/drinks production.
* Additional skills such as welding, turning, or milling would be a bonus.
