A large and inclusive 11–16 secondary school in West Oldham is looking to appoint a Geography teacher to join a stable and well-supported Humanities department. The school has recently undergone an internal restructure, giving subject leaders greater autonomy and improving outcomes across the curriculum.
Geography is taught to all students at KS3 with strong uptake at GCSE. The curriculum is broad, combining contemporary case studies with traditional geographic knowledge, and the department has built links with external organisations to enrich fieldwork and project-based learning.
The school benefits from excellent facilities, including new IT suites, digital resources for mapping and data analysis, and a dedicated humanities learning zone. Leadership across the school is visible, well organised, and focused on improving classroom practice through regular coaching and subject-specific development sessions.
This post is ideal for a Geography specialist who values curriculum depth, real-world learning opportunities, and a supportive school culture. ECTs will receive mentoring and training tailored to their subject, and experienced teachers will be offered opportunities to lead on curriculum areas or whole-school initiatives.
