Job Information
BBC Verify, established nearly two years ago, combines experts in data journalism, disinformation, open-source verification, and more. We are launching a live, real-time page to showcase our work, emphasizing transparency and audience engagement.
We seek Senior Journalists to join the digital team, responsible for managing live pages, commissioning and editing posts and videos, ensuring content is rich, accessible, and current.
Main Responsibilities
Within the BBC Verify live team, you will produce real-time reporting (live blogs) for BBC audiences worldwide. You should be creative, calm under pressure, and collaborative, capable of assigning tasks, commissioning reports, editing, and publishing content. Strong news judgment, understanding of BBC Verify’s editorial goals, and experience with forensic, data, and open-source journalism are essential. You may also handle other digital content, including news editing and story writing. The role involves shift work, including some weekends.
Candidate Criteria
* Excellent writing and copy editing skills.
* Strong editorial judgment, especially under pressure.
* Extensive experience in live digital coverage, including text and video.
* Experience with forensic, data, and open-source journalism.
* Track record of covering UK and/or international news with high-quality journalism.
* Commitment to transparent journalism through live reporting and videos.
