An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Senior Service Support Officer on a full-time, two year fixed term contract with the Corporate Service Support Team. Corporate Service Support provides an agile administrative support function to various teams across the Authority. This role will primarily assist with the delivery of the Council’s Planning Services.
The postholder will support the Building Control and Land Charges teams. These are inter-related functions that manage the County’s land use and development. Building Control ensures new buildings and renovations adhere to building regulations, focusing on safety and accessibility. Local Land Charges registers and provides information about restrictions, prohibitions, or financial liabilities on properties, often accessed during property transactions.
About the Role:
As a Senior Service Support Officer you will be expected to undertake a variety of administration duties associated with a busy office environment which include:
1. to support with the processing of Building Control applications from initial application stages through to approval or rejection.
2. to oversee and deal with communication of varying types include managing email accounts; responding to telephone calls and handling incoming and outgoing correspondence by post
3. to act as a key point of contact for the Building Control and Land Charges teams
4. to support with Land Charges searches
5. to input, update and extract information from IT systems relating to applications
6. to support with processing of payments
7. collate data for other officers within the team and for other service areas e.g. Finance & Procurement
8. maintain electronic database records and where appropriate website-based records (specifically Tascomi, QGIS and Microsoft )
About the Candidate:We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a NVQ4 in Business Administration qualification or have proven equivalent experience. The opportunity would suit someone who is methodical, has good attention to detail, a high level of computer literacy, good communication skills and an enthusiastic and positive approach to work.
The candidate will need to be friendly, helpful and understand the importance of providing good customer service to internal and external stakeholders. As a minimum requirement for the Welsh language, the successful candidate must have the ability to understand and contribute to a conversation with internal staff and the general public and be able to understand basic Welsh written correspondence. Knowledge of ICT systems such as Microsoft, Tascomi and QGIS would be a distinct advantage.
