Town Team Operative
Location: Llanfoist Household Waste Recycling Centre, Abergavenny, NP7 9AQ

Contract Duration: 1+ Months
Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:00, 37 Hours per week
Pay Rate: £ 12.85 per hour

Job Responsibilities
* Grass cutting activities.
* Maintain horticultural features inclusive of shrub beds, areas of annual bedding, and hedge cutting.
* Undertake landscaping of open spaces.
* Perform arboriculture work.
* Empty litter bins and carry out litter picking in open spaces, verges, and hard surfaces (reactive or proactive/scheduled).
* Undertake sweeping of hard surfaces using handheld and mechanical means.
* Remove graffiti as required.
* Cleanse, repair, and paint street furniture.
* Apply herbicides with relevant training accreditations, and/or remove weeds by hand.
* Power wash hard surfaces and monuments.
* Ensure vehicles are kept clean, and daily safety inspections are carried out.
* Use all plant and machinery in accordance with manufacturers' advice and instructions.
* Abide by all Health and Safety legislation and codes of practice to ensure personal and colleagues' safety.
* Adhere to the principles and practice of equal opportunity as laid down in the Council's Equal Opportunity Policy.
* Maintain safe working practices for self and others in accordance with the Council's Safe Working Practices and Health and Safety Policy.
* Comply with the relevant legislation in relation to Health and Safety.

* Work outside normal working hours, including responding to emergencies such as flooding, snow, and storms.

Person Specifications
* Hold a full driving licence.
* Have related experience within a similar environment as described within this role.
* Possess a good understanding of Health and Safety issues and the ability to abide by the Authority's agreed policies and procedures.
* Have experience and ability to work as part of a team.
* Be able to work without close supervision.
* Self-motivated.
* Take pride in the quality of work to ensure a quality service is provided.
* Possess good communication skills.
* Willingness to undertake any relevant training.
* Flexible and able to work outside core hours to meet the needs of the service when required, including covering Bank Holidays.
