Department

The School of Health and Social Care at the University of Essex is a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-thinking academic community committed to improving lives through education, research, and practice. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, people-centred training across nursing, social work, oral health, speech and language therapy, and more, the School blends academic rigour with real-world impact. Staff work collaboratively with service users, carers, and external partners - including the NIHR INSIGHT programme - to co-produce research and shape curricula that reflect the evolving needs of health and social care. Ranked among the top UK institutions for student satisfaction and academic excellence, the School offers a supportive environment where professionals can thrive, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to the sector.

Whether you're passionate about teaching, research, or student support, joining the School means becoming part of a team that values compassion, curiosity, and collaboration.

Duties of the Role

This is a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to play a central role in delivering the INSIGHT East of England Regional Programme and the MRes in Health and Care Research. The postholder will support engagement activities with health and care professionals across the region, organise impactful events, and manage communications that promote research careers. With responsibilities spanning stakeholder liaison, conference organisation and service enhancement, the role offers a varied workload and the chance to work closely with national partners such as the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). Ideal for someone who enjoys working collaboratively, values precision and service, and is keen to contribute to providing transformative educational opportunities.

Skills and qualifications required

This role offers a fantastic opportunity for a confident communicator with a keen eye for detail and a flair for organisation. Applicants should be ready to work collaboratively as part of a team and bring their experience in administration, navigating busy and varied workloads, and working with independence and calm. Familiarity with higher education or health research environments is a plus, alongside strong digital skills—especially in Microsoft 365 and bespoke systems. If you're someone who thrives on building relationships, solving problems, and contributing to impactful programmes, this position promises a varied and rewarding challenge within a collaborative and service-focused team.

At the University of Essex, internationalism and diversity is central to who we are and what we do. We are committed to being a cosmopolitan, internationally oriented university that is welcoming to staff and students from all countries, faiths and backgrounds, where you can find the world in one place.
