Overview
One Personal Assistant (PA) is required for a gentleman in the HU3 area of Hull. This gentleman is a wheelchair user and requires assistance with all aspects of his life, including personal care. He does not use speech but can express his feelings. He responds well to a cheerful disposition and positive engagement. He enjoys walks, observing cars and buses, lively music, and entertainment.
The gentleman’s mother is his main carer and will guide the PA. She will ensure the PA receives training to meet his care needs, including use of the hoist required to lift him.
Responsibilities
The PA role comprises two main parts:
* Meet all aspects of personal care needs: dressing, washing, toileting, and meals.
* Assist around the house with domestic tasks the gentleman cannot do, such as laundry and cleaning.

* Ability to work sensitively with an individual and be aware of his feelings, likes, and dislikes.
* Cheerful disposition.
* Capability to interact, involve him in activities he finds interesting.
* Willingness to learn how he communicates and what he finds engaging and entertaining.
* Provide high‑quality physical care and learn about his particular care needs.
* Reliability and consistency.
* Ability to work closely with his mother under her direction.
Qualifications
Successful applicant will be employed subject to a DBS check. Owing to the nature of this position, any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory checking report from the Disclosure and Barring Service, the cost of which will be met by the local authority/employer.
