Social Worker - Young Adult Disability Team
Location: Citywide, Base - Fort Shared Services
Salary: £37,626 - £44,257
Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks
Extra MHO and Practice Educator qualifications attract an additional salary supplement.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Young Adult Disability (YAD) Team supporting young adults with their post-school transition. YAD is a specialist team of Social Workers supporting young people aged 14 to 26 with severe learning disabilities, complex needs, or profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). Social Workers determine personal outcomes through a person-centred approach. We are seeking an enthusiastic Social Worker with a keen interest in transitions to join our team.

The Edinburgh Health & Social Care Partnership is transforming how Social Work delivers support and services, focusing on enabling adults with complex needs and frailty to live independently. We collaborate effectively with health colleagues and a broad range of partners to ensure vulnerable individuals receive appropriate services promptly. Our key priorities include shifting the balance of care and promoting early intervention and preventative support.
We are looking for qualified Social Workers committed to making a real difference. Ideal candidates will be energetic, imaginative, creative, and resilient. We prefer experienced social workers who can join us as council officers. Our practice is trauma-informed, relationship and strengths-based, adhering to the Social Care (Self-directed Support) (Scotland) Act 2013, offering a range of choices for support provision.
You will undertake statutory tasks including assessments, support planning, risk assessment and management, and Carers' assessments. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting adults, their families, and carers, balancing risk, needs, rights, and choices. You may also provide advice, support, guidance, and interventions for adults at risk under the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 or Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000. You will work within a well-established team with regular supervision and training.
Preferred candidates will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo an update check prior to employment. You must hold a degree/diploma in Social Work and be registered or in the process of registering with the Scottish Social Services Council. These posts are exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013. The PVG and SSSC fees will be paid by us.
Requirements
This post involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Candidates must join or update the PVG Scheme and provide any required overseas criminal record checks if applicable. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory pre-employment checks.

Our salary range reflects initial starting salaries with annual increases to the top of the range.
