We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist provision in Scarborough that supports pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). This school offers a nurturing, sensory-rich environment where pupils are supported to thrive physically, emotionally, and academically through highly personalised and holistic learning.
They are seeking an experienced and compassionate PMLD Teacher to join their team in September, bringing creativity, structure, and care into every lesson.
🧠What You’ll Be Doing:
Planning and delivering engaging, sensory-based learning experiences
Working with students who may have complex medical needs, physical disabilities, and severe communication difficulties
Using a multi-disciplinary approach alongside therapists and support staff
Leading a team of support assistants to ensure a consistent and safe learning environment
Supporting pupils with personal care needs and developing life skills where appropriate
🧩 What We’re Looking For:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)
Experience working with students with PMLD or within a specialist SEN setting
Strong understanding of alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton, eye gaze)
Patience, empathy, and creativity in abundance
A collaborative, team-oriented mindset
