We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable person to join our team in our Machinery Movement Department.
Payne's Machine Transport (now part of Calder Lifting Services Ltd ) has a rich family history of machine moving. From 60t boilers to statues, or works of art, Payne's Machine Transport have moved it all. Now coupled with Calder Lifting Services, we provide contract lifting and machine move to industry. We have become the go to provider of turnkey industrial services to blue chip companies.
If you have the willingness to learn, we will teach you the skills passed through a generation of Machine Movers.
We offer a wide range of heavy machine moving services, for example a single lathe move or a complete factory relocation.
For the right individual we are offering the opportunity to train with one of the best in the business gaining industry experience and qualifications.
A successful applicant may have existing experience of machine moving, lifting, transportation and siting/levelling machines or could be a beginner with mechanical skills wanting a new challenge.
This role is Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm (42.5 hours per week) plus overtime when available.
You will work at our site in Heckmondwike and our customer sites and travel between locations.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in hands-on work within a dynamic environment.
There is an opportunity to gain your HGV licence and lorry loader crane qualification with us for the right person.
Core responsibilities
* Using slings, chains and wire ropes, and other rigging equipment to secure and move heavy equipment.
* Operating machinery: Safely operating heavy equipment like forklifts, cranes, jacks and skates for moving and positioning machinery.
* Assembly and disassembly: Putting together and taking apart machinery and equipment.
* Safety and compliance: Adhering to all health and safety regulations and procedures and completing necessary paperwork.
* Teamwork and communication: Working closely with team members and communicating instructions, often using hand signals and verbal commands.
* Site-specific tasks: Performing installation, packing, and relocation on-site at various customer locations.
Required skills and qualifications
* Physical fitness: Ability to work outdoors and perform physical work.
* Attention to detail: Precision in following instructions and completing tasks correctly.
* Safety consciousness: Thorough knowledge of and strict adherence to safety standards.
* Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues. You must have a calm disposition and able to listen and follow instruction
* Problem-solving: Aptitude for finding solutions to moving challenges.
* Experience: Experience with heavy machinery, rigging, or mechanical engineering would put a candidate at an advantage
