We are looking to recruit a receptionist to join our busy, expanding practice. We pride ourselves in delivering excellent patient care and the suitable applicants will have the ability to liaise with patients in a busy reception department.

The successful candidates will possess excellent communication skills. You will be expected to work on your own initiative and also work well within a team environment. The duties of a GP receptionist will include; booking appointments, handling a large volume of incoming calls/online requests, processing patient queries and general day to day office duties. We require committed, flexible people to work 25hrs a week between the hours Monday 8am-1pm, Tuesday 8am-1pm, Thursday 8am- 6.30pm and Friday 8am- 1pm.

Job responsibilities
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Administration
* To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures
* To work in accordance of written protocols
Reception
* Receiving patients, consulting with members of practice team
* Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.
* Collect data as necessary e.g. up to date contact numbers / smoking status etc.
Appointments
* Process appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
* Deal with visits/requests
Computer
* Process patients changes of address computer data and medical records
* Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines
Other Tasks
* Ensure building security to follow protocol
Any other tasks allocated by managers
Person Specification
Experience
* Essential criteria The appropriate candidate will have a pleasant manner, good organisation skills and can work well within a team.
* Desirable criteria Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
