Job Title: Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist Banding: Band 6/7 Location: Cambridge Start Date: ASAP Rate: £28.00–£32.00 per hour Working Hours: Part time Job Overview We are currently seeking an experienced and highly skilled Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist to join a hospital-based team in Cambridge. In this role, you will provide comprehensive specialist Speech and Language Therapy services as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting patients with complex communication and swallowing difficulties. This is an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 or Band 7 therapist looking to work within an acute setting and further develop advanced clinical skills. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will: Work independently as an Advanced Practitioner in Speech and Language Therapy, delivering assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with complex speech, communication, and swallowing disorders. Contribute to specialist multidisciplinary teams across cardiothoracic services, providing expert input into patient care. Conduct and interpret instrumental assessments, including Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and videofluoroscopy. Manage patients with tracheostomies, ensuring competencies are maintained. Deliver training and education to staff, carers, and other healthcare professionals as required. Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional standards. Qualifications and Experience To be considered for this role, you must have: A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent). HCPC registration and membership (or eligibility) with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT). Experience working within an acute adult setting. Competency in instrumental swallowing assessments such as FEES and videofluoroscopy. Experience managing patients with tracheostomies. Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and teamwork skills.
