We are recruiting an Associate Director to join a leading international law firm’s Global Energy Industry Group, based in London. This is a high-profile, strategically critical role working with some of the world’s most sophisticated Energy clients and senior partners across the firm’s global network.
Energy sits at the heart of the firm’s global strategy. The role offers exposure to oil majors, power and utilities companies, energy transition players, technology businesses, and major institutional investors, with the opportunity to shape how the firm engages with this fast-evolving sector worldwide.
The Role
As Associate Director, you will act as a trusted strategic adviser to partners and senior stakeholders, helping to deepen client relationships and drive growth across the Energy sector. Working closely with Global Industry Group leadership and cross-practice teams, you will shape and deliver go-to-market strategies aligned with the firm’s wider business objectives.
This is a commercially focused, outward-looking role combining client strategy, market insight, and sector positioning, with genuine influence at the highest levels of the firm.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as a senior BD lead for the Global Energy Industry Group, partnering closely with the lead partners.
* Support the strategic development and growth of the group, focusing on client engagement, relationship development, and sector positioning rather than pitch execution.
* Work closely with the firm’s Client Team, as many of the group’s largest clients are also firmwide strategic clients.
* Coordinate globally with BD colleagues across regions to ensure consistency and alignment.
* The role is not pitch-heavy; pitch delivery primarily sits with practice-area BD teams.
* The environment is fast-paced and demanding, requiring a high level of responsiveness to very busy partners with significant client commitments.
About You
* Significant experience in business development or client relationship management, within a law firm or professional services environment
* Strong understanding of the global Energy sector and its evolving commercial and regulatory landscape
* Proven track record of delivering strategic BD initiatives that drive measurable growth
* Comfortable operating at senior level, with credibility and gravitas when working with partners and executives
* Highly organised, commercially astute, and confident managing complex, global stakeholder groups
