Indoor Pig Farm Stockperson - Gloucestershire - £35, DOE + Accommodation
The Job:
We are looking for a skilled and committed Indoor Pig Stockman to oversee our -sow indoor unit. The successful candidate will manage the entire lifecycle of pig production, from farrowing to finishing, on a 5-week batch system. This role requires hands-on management, strong leadership, and comprehensive knowledge of pig husbandry and farm operations.
- Oversee all operations of the -sow indoor pig farm, ensuring efficient and productive practices
- Supervise and manage farm workers, providing guidance, training, and support to maintain high performance
- Ensure the health and welfare of all pigs, implementing strict biosecurity measures and best practices
- Manage the 5-week batching process from farrowing to finish, optimising production and maintaining accurate records
- Ensure the farm facilities are well-maintained and clean, providing a safe and efficient working environment
- Oversee the farm's budget, controlling costs and aiming for profitability
- Generate regular reports on farm performance, including productivity, health, and welfare metrics
- Ensure all farming activities comply with relevant regulations and standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in managing pig farming operations, ideally within an indoor setting
- Strong understanding of pig husbandry, health, and welfare practices
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Effective planning and production management capabilities
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
- Proficiency in farm management software and technology
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with other stakeholders
- Dedication to high standards of biosecurity and animal welfare.
