As a Cardiac MRI Lead Radiographer at our St Bartholomew’s Hospital, you will need a BSc degree in diagnostic radiography (or equivalent) and a postgraduate qualification. Radiation Protection Supervisor training is preferred. Most importantly, a caring nature is vital—seeing patients as individuals and offering understanding and empathy.
As a Cardiac MRI Lead Radiographer, your responsibilities include:
* Being the clinical lead in the department, on the ward, and in theatre
* Delivering a high-quality diagnostic imaging service for a varied caseload
* Collaborating with leading practitioners and experiencing new practices, equipment, and facilities
* Developing policies and procedures
* Supervising and developing junior team members
* Providing a service of the highest quality with sensitivity and compassion
* Leading the MRI department in line with local policies and MHRA guidelines
* Undertaking a wide range of MRI procedures, including specialized cardiac MRI scans, maintaining technical competence and safety standards
* Ensuring high standards of patient care and a safe, compassionate service
* Supervising and training new MRI team members
* Coordinating the cardiac MRI service with cardiologists and administrative staff
* Practicing according to the professional, ethical, and legal standards of HCPC, the Society of Radiographers, and Nuffield St Bart’s Code of Conduct
* Maintaining a commitment to professional development and staying current with MRI skills
* Exhibiting excellent communication, motivational, and organizational skills
* Seeing each patient as an individual, offering understanding and empathy
* Collaborating with the radiology manager to develop policies, procedures, and new services

Located next to St Bartholomew’s NHS hospital, our flagship center for cardiac services offers a full range of surgical and medical services, including orthopaedics, oncology, general surgery, gynecology, and urology.
The hospital features 55 beds, including 7 intensive care beds, four advanced digital operating theatres, Endoscopy and minor operations theatres, 28 consultation rooms, a cardiac catheterization lab, an Oncology Day unit, and a comprehensive diagnostic imaging suite including MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography, and X-ray.
