We provide a multi-carrier solution to small and large businesses alike, providing a single point of contact and a simple Customer focused delivery solution. We provide accurate and up to date tracking of all parcels, manage all questions and queries and seamlessly handle claims for missing and damaged goods. Our solution has helped many retailers reach customers across the UK and worldwide that were previously out of their reach. We’re looking for a Technical Team Lead to drive delivery for one of our full-stack, core engineering squads. You’ll be leading an already functioning distributed team of around 5 developers/QA's (junior to mid-level), providing technical leadership, mentoring, and ensuring strong, timely execution of our roadmap. This is both a hands-on technical and people leadership role. At GFS, our teams have full autonomy of how they get things done. You’ll be expected to make technical decisions, set best practices, and help modernize systems while balancing delivery with team development. You'll be expected to mentor and line manage the more junior members of the team, and help them through their career development. You'll have a strong understanding of writing Javascript across the full stack; using React, Next and Express. We utilize Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for our cloud infrastructure, and DevOps for our ticket tracking and pipelines. An understanding of legacy .NET systems is a plus, as we're actively migrating away from older platforms. We utilise an Event driven Service architecture, and familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes is a must. We're after someone who thrives on autonomy - someone who can take a vision and bring it to life with their own expertise and initiative. Communicating upwards effectively on progress, challenges, needs, but also suggestions, is vital. Responsibilities Lead and mentor a distributed team of developers across skill levels Contribute directly to the codebase (primarily backend) Own the technical delivery of the team’s roadmap Make and drive technical decisions aligned with best practices and company goals Ensure quality and maintainability of codebases Collaborate with product managers and internal stakeholders to define solutions Communicate progress, risks, successes, and ideas to leadership Foster a high-performing, supportive, and growth-oriented team culture Requirements Strong hands-on experience with full stack JavaScript development, plus Docker and Kubernetes Demonstrated experience successfully leading development teams through roadmaps Experience deploying and managing applications in a cloud environment Excellent communication skills, especially when reporting upward or managing expectations Passion for mentoring and developing engineers Comfortable visiting our Southampton office a couple of times a week Nice to Have Previous experience in formal line management (1:1s, appraisals, etc) Ability to navigate and modernize legacy .NET systems React, Next and Express experience Prior experience in logistics, supply chain, or internal tooling domains GCP, Azure DevOps
