Full-Time SEN Learning Support Assistant GSL Education are excited to be supporting a forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Fareham in their search for a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their team from September. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a genuine passion for supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with physical and sensory impairments, to help them thrive in a mainstream school setting. About the Role: As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, you’ll work closely with students with a range of physical and/or sensory needs, supporting them both in and outside the classroom. You’ll be part of a collaborative and caring Learning Support Team, dedicated to creating a nurturing environment that enables all pupils to reach their potential. Key responsibilities will include: Providing tailored 1:1 or small group support to students with physical, sensory or medical needs, ensuring full access to learning and school activities. Assisting students with personal care and mobility needs (as required), following training and risk assessments. Supporting pupils’ academic, emotional and social development under the guidance of the SENCO and specialist staff. Helping implement EHCPs and supporting the delivery of therapeutic or specialist interventions. Working closely with classroom teachers to adapt learning resources and strategies to meet individual needs. Contributing to reviews, support plans, and liaising with parents/carers and external agencies. Fostering independence, resilience and confidence in students with additional needs. The Ideal Candidate Will: Have prior experience working with young people with SEND, particularly those with physical or sensory impairments (e.g. visual or hearing impairments, or physical disabilities). Be empathetic, proactive and able to build strong, respectful relationships with students and staff. Possess strong communication and teamwork skills. Be comfortable supporting with personal care and physical support (training will be provided). Hold a relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE, Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) – desirable but not essential. Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
