Overview
Artisan Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager on behalf of a facilities company based in Essex.
Role purpose
The Electrical Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the electrical elements of construction projects from initial design through to completion. This includes ensuring timely delivery, adherence to safety and quality standards, and effective coordination with all project stakeholders. The role covers all aspects of electrical installations, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm systems, and building automation.
Responsibilities
* Project Planning & Coordination
o Plan, schedule, and coordinate electrical works from design through to commissioning
o Review drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements
o Liaise with engineers, consultants, main contractors, and subcontractors
* Execution & Site Management
o Oversee on-site installation of electrical systems, including LV/HV, lighting, and control systems
o Supervise subcontractors and ensure works are delivered in line with project scope
o Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and ensure safety compliance
* Budget & Cost Control
o Manage project budgets and monitor expenditure against forecasts
o Review and negotiate quotations and contracts with suppliers and subcontractors
o Identify cost-saving opportunities and effectively manage variations and change orders
* Compliance & Safety
o Ensure full compliance with relevant electrical regulations, codes, and safety standards
o Lead testing, inspection, and commissioning activities
o Promote a strong safety culture through site audits and toolbox talks
* Team Leadership
o Lead, mentor, and support electrical engineers, supervisors, and technicians
o Coordinate with other trades to minimise clashes and avoid delays
* Documentation & Reporting
o Maintain accurate project documentation, including as-built drawings and technical submittals
o Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and clients
* Risk Management
o Identify potential risks early and develop effective mitigation strategies
o Monitor programme, financial, safety, and technical risks, escalating where necessary
o Facilitate risk workshops and maintain up-to-date risk registers
* Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
o Implement and uphold quality assurance processes in line with company standards
o Conduct root cause analysis on defects and implement corrective actions
o Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the department
