Overview
Our busy Children’s Department covers two sites: Queens Hospital in Romford and King George Hospital in Ilford. We deliver a comprehensive range of general medical and surgical services to our local population and have an inpatient ward, a 4‑bedded HDU co‑located, two Children and Young People Assessment Units (CYPAU) at Queens Hospital and King George Hospital, a day unit with a POSCU and haematology service, two outpatient departments with a GP hot clinic, a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists and a Children’s Community Nursing team. Responsibilities
* The post holder will assist in the provision of high quality, holistic care to children, young people, and their families by working effectively as a member of the multi‑disciplinary team.
* Provide care to children and young people under the direct supervision and direction of registered children’s nurses.
* Work autonomously within guidelines, caring for low acuity children in ward settings, and assist registered nurses in the care of higher acuity children when directed.
* Be proactive in monitoring and anticipating the needs of patients within the boundaries of the job description.
* Demonstrate excellent communication, reliability, hard work, and good organisational skills.
* Work flexibly, unsupervised and demonstrate resilience under pressure.
Person Specification / Qualifications
* Possess excellent communication skills and be hardworking, reliable and dedicated with good organisational skills.
* Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide care under supervision of registered children’s nurses.
Additional Information
* We operate from two main sites – King George Hospital (KGH) in Goodmayes and Queens Hospital in Romford.
* We have significant facilities including two busy emergency departments and new theatres; Community Diagnostic Centres will increase the number of scans available.
* We are introducing an electronic patient record next year to improve access to patient records across seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health.
* All new staff are subject to a probationary period.
