Our client in Thatcham is in search of a Site Chemist to join their growing team of operatives.
They are a major player in the recycling industry are looking for a candidate at their start of their career who can grow with the company.
Salary:
1. £23,000 – £31,000 per annum DOE + BONUS.
Hours:
2. Monday – Friday
3. 08:00am – 18:00pm
Key Responsibilities:
4. Receiving, storing and handling of hazardous waste into site.
5. Assess waste on arrival for acceptance checks and analysis, using the laboratory facilities or onsite testing
6. Preparing outgoing load lists and booking outgoing wastes to the correct facility following the waste hierarchy
7. Laboratory analysis of site effluent and other customer samples
8. Compatibility testing of wastes in preparation for repacking or bulking
9. Repacking of wastes such as laboratory smalls, ensuring compliance with waste segregation,
labelling, and packing requirements
10. Provide support to the senior chemist, site manager and operatives in the day to day running. of the site in line with all relevant permits and legislation, to ensure effective operation of all area processes, managing input, through-put and output of wastes effectively
11. Ensuring the correct segregation and storage of hazardous waste, in line with all company
12. Procedures and regulatory requirements.
13. Ensuring paperwork for incoming waste is compliant & correctly completed
14. Working alongside site operatives to ensure that waste is processed, stored and transferred in a safe, compliant and timely manner
15. Assisting with the control of material flows through and ensuring container stocks are maintained to avoid delays and backlogs
16. Raising non-conformances and providing necessary information to allow these to be actioned
17. Occasional chemical listing and repacking at customer sites in preparation for collection.
18. To maintain effective record keeping and documentation, to include the running of the sites stock control system, production records and in-process records
19. This role does involve mainly outdoor work, as well as some laboratory work, office work and some manual handling.
Requirements:
20. To be considered for this role you must hold a either a chemistry degree, HNC or HND
21. Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
22. An adaptive and problem-solving approach to tasks, with good organisational and verbal/ written skills
23. Experience within the environmental, waste or chemical industry would be an advantage but not necessarily essential to the right candidate
24. The successful candidate with be able to expand and develop the role and work in line with our competence training.
