About the Role
We are WithYou, a leading charity supporting people with drug, alcohol, and mental health challenges. Our People team delivers a range of services across England and Scotland, providing free and confidential support to more than 100,000 people each year.
Main Duties
As an Employee Relations Specialist you will:
* Provide People solutions and specialist advice to managers and employees, including the management of complex casework.
* Ensure people advice aligns with organisational policies, best practice, and employment legislation to minimise organisational risk.
* Act as a mentor and coach to People Advisers, supporting their growth and keeping employment law knowledge current.
* Escalate contentious and complex cases, overseeing case management for potential gross misconduct or dismissals, ensuring robust, fair, timely, and legally compliant work.
* Support line managers with all casework issues for employees up to senior management level, covering formal and informal disciplinary and grievance cases, long‑term and intermittent sickness absence, and welfare concerns.
* Manage and organise caseloads, prioritise appropriately, and review and expedite overall case status with People Advisers.
* Deputise for the Employee Relations Manager and provide cover for People Advisers as required.
Essential Skills
* Chartered membership of the CIPD or significant demonstrable experience.
* Experience and knowledge of employment law and managing complex employee relations cases.
* Experience acting as deputy to a senior HR role in a similarly complex organisation.
* Experience delivering functional HR expertise across the full generalist remit, including recruitment, reward, organisational development, change management, employee engagement, employee relations, learning and development.
