Offer description

Summary

Exciting times are ahead at Petworth House and Park and we are looking for someone enthusiastic about engaging visitors to join the team as Programming Assistant.

As Programming Assistant at Petworth you will play a key part in the planning and delivery of our events and activities for families. If you enjoy working in a busy atmosphere, in a hands on and creative role, this could be the job for you.

This role is a part time, 30 hours per week contract. Occasional weekend and evening work are required.

For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

This is a fixed term contract due to end when the postholder returns to the role. At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 12 months.

This role is required to work with vulnerable groups including children and any offer of employment or volunteering is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

What it's like to work here

Change is taking place at Petworth House and Park and the team are looking for innovative people to join them. The team is currently working to update the property’s visitor offering and highlight its internationally-renowned collection of pictures and sculpture as well as its Capability Brown designed historic park and pleasure grounds. If you have lots of ideas, energy and ambition, then Petworth House could be the place for you.

No two days are the same at Petworth, and in this role you will be involved with a wide range of tasks from planning summer holiday activities to delivering family trails, working with volunteers and decorating for Christmas

We are open 363 days a year and growing our visitor numbers, from local communities and independent adults to families. We are proud to look after a place of international significance, but our focus is firmly on becoming locally loved and relevant too.

What you'll be doing

Working alongside the Senior Visitor Experience Officer you will develop and deliver engaging family events and activities to create a year-round programme centred around our annual theme.

Ensuring events and activities run smoothly is key to providing our visitors with exceptional service and a memorable day out. You will be hands on, ensuring all programme elements are delivered and maintained to a high standard.

You’ll be working as part of the team at Petworth, ensuring strong communication across departments such as Gardens, House, and commercial along with supervising volunteers.

Who we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

1. good communication skills, building relationships with a wide range of people
2. a team player, but can also work by yourself
3. adaptable and have a flexible approach
4. an understanding of the importance of great service
5. keen to learn new things
6. well organised and able to manage time well
