As a Materials/Optics Engineer, your main focus will be to support the lead engineers of the project or research teams. You may assist in designing new products by drawing up 3D models, optical / materials simulations, new optical systems or material testing, more sustainable materials selection, testing new firmware implementation, and automated test software scripting. No matter what you shine at you will be immersed in a diverse team of engineers helping you focus on what you do best whilst contributing to deliver new and exciting products.

What you'll do:
Depending on your background, the key skills we will develop with you over your stay may include:
* New materials research, selection and testing to ensure sustainability and quality in product development.
* Optical simulation and design using the latest simulation and design software packages.
* Optics design, validation and test, with a particular focus on TV displays using our specially designed facilities.
* Liaising and collaboration with suppliers and research/manufacturing partners in materials selection, optical performance and sustainability of the final product.
* Learning to support mass production manufacture and design of production line test-automation.
What you'll bring:
* Degree or master’s in Physics/Materials/Optics or equivalent experience.
* Proficiency in optical simulation software: Ansys SPEOS/Zemax/Lumerical
* Materials knowledge: DBEF, polarisers, QDfilms, reflectors, PMMA etc.
* Deep understanding of the nature and behaviour of the light through materials, lenses and special LED applications.
* Hands on approach and theoretical understanding of materials and optical physical phenomena.
* Curiosity and interest in R&D development.
* Capacity to work independently and within a diverse team.
* You can present out your work with confidence, you may not like it or even enjoy it, but you can do it, we will make you better through opportunity.
