Job Description
We are currently in search of a Problem Debt Portfolio Manager for our esteemed client, a specialist bank. The focus of this position is to provide high-quality solutions for complex and sensitive cases. This involves efficiently resolving cases promptly to assist distressed customers, utilising extensive restructuring and realisation expertise. In cases where options like turnaround or exit strategies such as sale or refinance are not feasible, the role involves overseeing recovery proceedings, potentially involving third parties, all while effectively mitigating risks for the bank and engaging with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
* Offer specialised knowledge and experience to actively collaborate with customers, understanding their business strategies and operations to devise effective solutions.
* Manage a portfolio consisting of sensitive and potentially problematic debt exposures.
* Foster strong relationships and trust with customers, facilitating the delivery of challenging messages with sensitivity and maintaining the highest ethical standards.
* Develop third-party relationships with sector specialists to optimise outcomes for both the bank and its customers.
* Efficiently manage credit exposures within the portfolio, promptly identifying and mitigating key risks.
* Provide support to colleagues in Commercial Banking and Credit Underwriting, utilising specialist skills to develop and enhance restructuring and recovery capabilities as required.
* Ensure accurate and timely production of reports and Management Information (MI) for senior management regarding specific cases and the overall status of the Problem Debt portfolio.
* Proactively update Problem Debt-related policies in alignment with regulatory changes and the bank's current approach.
Skills & Experience:
* Expertise in restructuring, recovery, and relationship management within a Commercial Banking setting.
* Proven experience in portfolio relationship management.
* Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal, planning, and organisational skills.
* Proficiency in financial analysis and interpreting financial information.
* Operational knowledge of bank processes and key regulatory/legal considerations.
