We are looking for a reliable and experienced Plant Lorry Driver to join our team. You will be responsible for transporting plant machinery and equipment to and from customer sites safely and efficiently. The role involves loading and unloading various plant items, ensuring all deliveries and collections are completed in a timely manner, and representing the company in a professional manner on site.
Key Responsibilities:
* Safely load, secure, transport, and unload plant machinery and equipment.
* Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects or issues.
* Plan routes efficiently to ensure timely delivery and collection.
* Maintain accurate delivery and collection records and obtain customer signatures.
* Ensure all paperwork (delivery notes, job sheets, etc.) is completed correctly and returned promptly.
* Liaise with the transport and hire desk teams for job instructions and updates.
* Comply with health and safety regulations, company policies, and road transport laws.
* Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of the lorry and report any damage or faults.
* Provide excellent customer service and act as a professional representative of the company on site.
Requirements:
* Valid UK HGV Class 1 or Class 2 Licence (as required by fleet).
* Current Driver CPC qualification and digital tachograph card.
* Experience transporting plant machinery (essential)
* General machine tickets (preferred)
* Good understanding of load securing and transport regulations.
* Ability to carry out minor vehicle maintenance checks.
* Familiarity with chains, straps, and lashing equipment.
* Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* Flexible with working hours and occasional overnight stays if required.
* Experience working within the plant hire or construction industry.
* Knowledge of basic plant machinery types and operational awareness.
