Responsibilities
As a Pharmacy Technician you will work within your professional boundaries as part of the general practice team, supporting safe, accurate and timely medication administration.
* Provide technical and administrative support to clinicians.
* Support the practice clinical teams with medication queries.
* Action medication changes communicated from secondary and third‑party health organisations in a timely and efficient manner.
* Complete audits regarding patient safety in the prescribing of medication and present the information for sharing with the clinical team.
* Support medicines optimisation initiatives to ensure quality, safety and value within prescribing.
* Undertake medicines optimisation coordinator duties in line with guidance and support from commissioners.
* Oversee shared care and high‑risk / controlled drugs monitoring and recall administration.
* Respond to local and national alerts.
* Work within NICE guidelines to address local and national prescribing priorities.
* Maintain professional registration at all times.
The Pharmacy Technician also supports and participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and reduce health inequalities.

Qualifications
Essential
* Confirmation of registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* Compliance with the specific qualification and training requirements specified by the GPhC.
* Enrollment or completion of an approved training pathway such as PCPEP or MOCH.
Experience
Essential
* Experience working under appropriate clinical supervision to ensure safe, effective and efficient use of medicines.
* Ability to communicate information effectively by telephone, email and face to face.
* Demonstrated personal accountability, emotional resilience and ability to work under pressure.
* Ability to record accurate clinical notes.
* Understanding of safeguarding for adults and children.
* Effective time‑management skills.
* Ability to follow legal, ethical and professional policies, procedures and codes of conduct.
