You will also play a crucial role in enhancing the Company’s annual submission for the Security and Emergency Measures Direction (SEMD) 2022, ensuring continuous compliance and improvement in line with regulatory requirements.
A key part of the role will involve providing prompt and efficient support in response to emergency events and incidents. This role is key to ensuring a swift and effective response to unexpected situations, minimising disruption and maintaining business continuity across the organisation. Following training the role would require involvement in the team standby rota of a 1 week in 6 out of hours standby for incident response.
The role requires active collaboration with Local Resilience Forums and Local Authority Emergency Planning Units to build strong working relationships. This will ensure the Company meets its obligations under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, strengthening our position as a reliable and prepared organisation during emergency events.
Additionally, you will work closely with the wider business to develop and deliver emergency exercises, ensuring that corporate plans are rigorously tested. This proactive approach will ensure we are prepared for any potential disruptions, ensuring resilience and confidence across the organisation.
About you
The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the Security and Emergency Measures Direction (SEMD) 2022, and how water companies ensure compliance.
You must also demonstrate the ability to understand and implement the principles and concepts of Business Continuity and Emergency Planning to enhance organisational resilience.
Experience of developing and delivering large scale emergency exercises and/or creating tailored training packages to prepare teams for effective incident response would be required.
You will be expected to work professionally and collaboratively with blue light services personnel and Emergency Planning Departments within Local Councils and Authorities ensuring strong relationships are built and maintained.
Exceptional interpersonal skills are key to this role, including excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to engage effectively with stakeholders, both internal and external, will be vital in achieving success and driving continuous improvement in our emergency planning and response capabilities.
