As an Associate Director in River Engineering, you will play a vital role in every aspect of river engineering and flood defence on transformational programmes for critical UK infrastructure, with opportunities to work on iconic engineering projects at home and abroad.
We specialise in all aspects of river engineering across multiple challenging and engaging sectors such as Water, Aviation, Defence, Energy, and Cities & Development. We provide industry‑leading river engineering and flood defence solutions from project conception through construction, adding value through client‑side support and construction phases.
Your role
* Own and direct teams who undertake technical design work following relevant design standards and codes, and to high‑quality levels.
* Define briefs, scopes of work, and contribute to bid proposals.
* Successfully manage time and budgets to achieve key project milestones and programmes.
* Work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
* Set quality assurance standards in design.
* Grow, develop, and manage engineering capability within the practice.
About You
* Chartered Civil Engineer or equivalent.
* Experience in owning design delivery, including multidisciplinary design.
* Comprehensive knowledge of flood walls and embankments, weirs, hydraulic structures, culverts, scour protection, access and accessibility, and construction logistics.
* Familiarity with current UK design standards, guidance, and working practices.
* Proficiency in delivering traditional engineering and environmentally focused solutions using nature‑based strategies.
