The Newark and Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society (NNAS) is a registered Charity whose primary objective is to support, champion and promote agriculture throughout Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands region.
We are currently seeking a Competitions and Membership Officer to join our small vibrant team responsible for organising the showing and competitive sections of our agricultural shows.
Job Type: Full time / 40 hours per week
Location: Newark on Trent, Nottinghamshire
Reports to: Events and Development Manager
Working with: Trustees, Show Committees, Volunteers, Commercial Partners & office staff team
This current vacancy needs an experienced and professional person with a minimum 3 years similar experience preferably in an agricultural show / event management environment.
Working in a busy event team, the role is responsible for:
1. Effective planning, organising and delivery of all competitive elements and entries (livestock, equine, vehicles and produce) into the annual Nottinghamshire County Show and The Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show with a view to increasing the level of entries across the broad spectrum of NNAS competitions.
2. To efficiently manage the annual NNAS membership process to ensure that members receive timely and accurate communications and act as first point of call for membership enquires to help increase numbers and develop the membership offering.
3. To be a proactive member of the Show Team who takes ownership, responsibility and consistently delivers in their job role to drive improvement of systems and processes to drive efficiency and improve standards to benefit the team, NNAS, its members and the events we organise.
4. To be actively involved in event planning, organisation and management of all shows to ensure they are delivered on time and to budget meeting all the criteria established for success.

5. Have interest, experience and familiarity of the livestock and equine sector
6. Be an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills, self-motivated and have a flexible approach to the working day.
7. Have a “can do” attitude with practical problem-solving skills and the ability to build rapport with people at all levels are essential.
8. The ability to work under pressure, to organise and prioritise effectively, be flexible and have a commitment to do everything that is required to get the job done.
9. Have excellent IT skills including MS Office. Experience of CAD layout systems and Showing Scene would be useful but not essential
10. Good standard of education.
11. Awareness of Data Protection Act.
12. H&S and / or First Aid qualification would be useful but not essential.
You must:
13. Be eligible to work in the UK.
14. Be a car owner and hold a full UK driving Licence.
The position is primarily office based at Newark Showground from Monday to Friday with occasional evenings and weekends, however, travel to customer and other locations will be required on a periodic basis
