Strategic Design and Transition Programme – Strategy Policy Specialist – 32182
We are seeking an experienced Strategy and Policy Specialist to join the Strategic Design and Transition Programme, focusing on the implications of the Independent Water Commission’s report and shaping the future of the Environment Agency.
Responsibilities
* Provide evidence‑based advice to support future planning regarding the IWC recommendation to create a single water regulator.
* Engage with government colleagues, EA teams, and regulators to align on policy developments.
* Contribute to a high‑performing Programme team, promoting agility and resilience amid uncertainty.
* Assist with additional projects and workstreams as required by programme needs.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience developing policy within central government, working alongside economists and scientists.
* Strategic thinking and ability to influence across sectors.
* Excellent communication and engagement skills – ability to translate complex issues into concise advice on short notice.
* Track record of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
Location & Working Arrangements
Based at an EA Office. As a national role, working location is flexible. Travel, including occasional overnight stays, may be required. Flexible working patterns are encouraged.
