About Phoenix 2 Retail
Phoenix 2 Retail is the leading wholesaler specialising in vaping and nicotine products, providing innovative route-to-market solutions for global brands. Our mission is to become the world's leading supplier of smoking alternatives, built on the pillars of responsibility, innovation, education, and sustainability, to create a better future for retailers and consumers.
Our Values
Our "I CARE" values represent our commitment to fostering a culture of positive influence, unwavering commitment, individual and collective accountability, ethical responsibility, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. These values guide our actions and decisions, ensuring we deliver outstanding results for our clients and employees.
Role Overview
We're looking for a detail-obsessed, process-driven Payroll Executive who actually enjoys numbers (yes, these people exist). This is a part-time role that blends remote flexibility with on-site collaboration in our Peterlee office. You must live within a commutable distance to support essential in-person activity.
You'll take ownership of our monthly payroll operations, ensure employees are paid accurately and on time, and keep our expense processes running like a well-oiled machine. If you get satisfaction from spotting errors before they ruin someone's payslip, you'll fit right in.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the full monthly payroll cycle using Moorepay, supporting our transition to HiBob Payroll in Q2 2026.
* Ensure all payroll input data is accurate, complete, and processed in accordance with deadlines.
* Conduct payroll checks, reconciliations, and audits to maintain compliance and data integrity.
* Serve as the first point of contact for payroll-related queries, resolving issues with professionalism and clarity.
* Oversee approval, verification, and auditing of all employee expenses submitted through Concur.
* Maintain accurate employee records, ensuring all contractual, statutory, and organisational changes are captured promptly.
* Support the continuous improvement of payroll processes and documentation.
* Collaborate with Finance, HR, and operational teams to ensure seamless payroll operations and reporting.
* Reconcile, audit and report on Company AMEX use, ensuring all receipts are collected and accurate.
* Managing workplace pension processes, including enrolment, contributions, compliance, and reconcilliation with the company pension provider NEST.
Qualifications & Skills:
We're looking for someone who actually enjoys getting the details right. If balancing numbers, spotting tiny errors, and keeping sensitive information locked down gives you a quiet sense of pride, you'll fit perfectly here. You'll thrive in a role where accuracy matters, confidentiality is non-negotiable, and a smooth payroll run can turn you into the office hero. While not every box is essential, the following qualities would make you an ideal candidate:
* Experience managing UK payroll, ideally in a fast-moving, multi-site environment.
* Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory obligations, and best practice.
* Familiarity with Moorepay or HiBob is beneficial, but not essential.
* High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
* Comfortable working autonomously and managing deadlines over a three-day working pattern.
* Excellent communication skills and a calm approach to problem-solving.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive data appropriately.
What We Offer:
* Competitive salary of up to £30,000 Pro Rata
* £40 per month to support your mental and/or physical wellbeing
* Career Growth & Progression Opportunities
* Regular Development Plans & Reviews
* 24 Days Annual Leave + Bank Holidays
* Extra Paid Day Off for Your Birthday
* Employee Assistance Programme
* Salary Sacrifice Pension Scheme (5% Employer Contribution)
* Length of service award addition day of annual leave after 2 years of service up to 5 days.
Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven professional to lead a high-performing sales team, influence brand growth, and be a key player in Phoenix 2 Retail's continued success. If you're ready to take on this challenge, we'd love to hear from you
