Sr Principal Professional Services Project Manager
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to manage and successfully deliver our European Operational Technology professional services portfolio. This position will utilize professional services expertise, communication, facilitation, and mediation skills to establish and improve the European project delivery model for professional services projects. The role will report to the Senior Director, Professional Services Europe, and is based in Reading, UK.
Overview
The successful candidate must have a technical background and experience interacting directly with engineers and management. They should have a proven track record in managing complex power infrastructure projects, demonstrating strong leadership, strategic thinking, and exceptional project management expertise. The role supports utility customers in the energy generation, transmission, and distribution industries.
Your Impact
* Develop and execute project plans that align with organizational objectives and contractual commitments. Outline timelines with milestones for invoicing and labor requirements to ensure precision and adherence to project milestones.
* Oversee project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting. Implement robust cost control measures and optimize resource allocation to enhance efficiency and financial performance.
* Communicate project progress, milestones, and challenges to executives and project sponsors to enable informed decision-making.
* Establish and enforce project governance standards and procedures to ensure formal closure of the project, including reviews, documentation of insights, and transition to post-project phases.
* Guide, mentor, and inspire diverse project teams within a matrix organization. Champion professional development and support the growth and success of team members.
* Develop business acumen within the team and identify upselling opportunities embedded within projects to drive growth.
* Deploy risk management approaches with effective mitigation strategies. Identify, evaluate, and address risks and issues to ensure resilient project delivery.
* Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
* Establish and enforce quality standards for deliverables by conducting regular reviews to ensure quality and successful outcomes.
* Drive continuous improvement in service processes by identifying bottlenecks, applying best practices, and leveraging lessons learned to optimize performance.
* Elevate customer satisfaction by delivering on-time and within-budget results, while using survey feedback to drive improvements. Collaborate on customer-facing pre-sales initiatives, including deal and contract reviews with attention to terms and conditions.
What You'll Need
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
* Proven experience as a Project Manager in the power utilities industry with knowledge of generation, transmission, and/or distribution.
* PMP or relevant project management certification is a plus.
* Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
* Exceptional customer interaction and problem-solving skills, with strong business sense.
* Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale, multiple complex program engagements.
* Experience managing multicultural technical teams within a matrix organization.
* Extensive experience in software or process within the utilities industry.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to superior customer service.
* Excellent English speaking and writing skills; a second language is advantageous.
* Regional travel of approximately 35% of the time.
