The post is based with Older People’s Service, North Sector. You will be predominately based within acute assessment wards at Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI) but may be asked to support other areas within the service. The team also covers the frailty unit at GRI and the rehab wards and ARC at Lightburn and Stobhill Hospitals. The role involves assessment, treatment planning, rehabilitation and complex discharge planning for older people, predominately over the age of 75 with conditions such as Frailty, Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease and falls.
The post holder will contribute to the evaluation and development of the occupational therapy service within their designated area with reference to clinical governance, clinical effectiveness and national policies and drivers. The role may involve leading or supporting departmental and team projects. The team supports advancing practice, with staff currently securing funding to complete advanced practice modules through the AHP education fund. The post is 5 days over 7, with the team providing a seven day service as required to the frailty unit and acute assessment wards at GRI.
Responsibilities
* Assess and plan treatment, provide rehabilitation and manage complex discharge planning for older adults.
* Work within the Older People’s Service in the North Sector and support other areas within the service as required.
* Contribute to clinical governance, clinical effectiveness and adherence to national policies and drivers.
* Lead or support departmental and team projects; contribute to service evaluation and development.
* Promote advancing practice and participate in funded advanced practice modules where available.
Qualifications
* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
* Registered with the HCPC.
* Must hold or gain a practice education qualification.
* Up-to-date mandatory and statutory training (e.g., Fire, Moving and Handling).
* Proven specialist skills and knowledge in OT for Older People’s Service gained through relevant courses and multidisciplinary/team experience.
