We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Engineering Department based in Braintree.
The successful applicant will ideally be degree educated and have experience in a manufacturing or project engineering role with a strong understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process optimisation techniques. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and project management tools (e.g. MS Project) are also a requirement along with excellent problem-solving, organisational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
Role:
* Plan, lead, and execute manufacturing projects, including new product introductions, process improvements, equipment installations, and facility upgrades
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, Production, Supply Chain) to ensure successful project execution
* Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
* Analyse and optimize manufacturing processes to improve quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
* Design and implement production layouts, tooling, and fixtures to support manufacturing needs
* Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001, GMP)
* Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions for process and product issues
* Prepare technical documentation, including work instructions, engineering reports, and risk assessments
* Support process validation, equipment qualification, and production ramp-up activities
* Train production personnel on new equipment, processes, and procedures
Responsibilities:
* Become a technical lead for a multitude of various technologies, machines, and value streams to assist Process Primes in the development and improvement of processes within the production environment
* Project manage capital equipment projects from justification through to implementation
* Manage tooling and fixture design and manufacture, to support production needs
* Lead Process Capability, Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activities within the Manufacturing environment
* Carry out measurement systems analysis, using type 1 and type 2 studies on gauging and measurement systems to improve gauge R&R
* Be an integral part of a design team helping to brainstorm ideas and help facilitate actions by carrying out CAD modelling, concept refinement and procurement activities
* Ensure safe working practices supporting health and safety within the workplace and assisting with the Risk Assessment process for all manufacturing processes and equipment
* Promote and develop wider data capture within the manufacturing environment with a view to process, analyse and disseminate information for the control and understanding of the process and the product
* Conduct and participate in team briefings, workshops and training to ensure smooth integration of new processes, equipment and systems to the production teams
* Support shop floor problems by using engineering techniques to analyse capability data, liaise with technical helpdesks and carry out root cause investigations
* Provide and develop process documentation including but not limited to Standard Operating Procedures and Set up instructions
* Assist in the management and control of machine documentation and data including but not limited to Machine Manuals, Maintenance Instructions, CNC part programs, and CNC control software
* Support the maintenance department in identification and ordering of spare or replacement machine parts

Mon – Thu: 07:30am to 16:00pm
Friday: 07:30am to 15:00pm
39 hours available per week
