Overview

Placement Student – Civil Engineering – Water & Flood Management (12 Months)

Location: Cardiff

Working hours per week: 40 Monday - Friday

Start date: September 2026

About the Team

Amey Engineering teams improve the environment and create sustainable flooding solutions across the UK, by working in partnership with a range of clients, providing consultancy design services for Local Authorities, Strategic and Local transport providers and organisations delivering National Infrastructure. We make our towns and cities better places to live by improving connectivity, flood resilience, sustainability and quality of life.


What you’ll be doing

As a Civil Engineering Placement Student within our Water and Flood Management Teams, you'll be challenged and inspired to reach your full potential while working in a dynamic and stimulating environment. You'll gain valuable insight into life at Amey, with the opportunity to apply for our Graduate Programme upon completing your academic studies.

You will work alongside the team and contribute to the following:

* Undertake any work of a technical nature that falls within ability and competence.
* Prepare design calculations drawing and documents.
* Undertake Hydrology and Hydraulic Modelling using best in class software.
* Carry out site visits, surveys, inspections, and supervise sub-contractors.
* Prepare feasibility studies, inspection, assessment, and technical reports ensuring compliance with Amey procedures

Amey Consulting are looking for individuals who demonstrate clear communication, strong teamwork, and a genuine eagerness to learn. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, and proactive in their approach, showing professionalism and integrity in everything, they do. To be considered for the placement we require the following.

* Currently studying a degree in Civil Engineering or related subject
* A Full UK driving License
