Are you a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs? A welcoming and well-resourced SEN school in Morpeth is seeking an SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This is a long-term position until the Easter holidays, with strong potential to continue beyond this.
About the Role
You will be supporting pupils with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and ADHD, helping to create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. You’ll work closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support, encourage independence, and promote the academic and social development of each child.
Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with ASD and ADHD
*
Assist with classroom activities, behaviour management, and personalised learning plans
*
Help create a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment
*
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff
*
Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and personal development
*
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and confidence
Requirements
*
Experience working within schools is essential
* Previous experience in an SEN setting is highly desirable
* A strong understanding of ASD and ADHD
* Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting pupils with SEN
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team
*
TA qualifications are not required, but are desirable
Hours & Pay

Full-time or part-time opportunities available

8:30am – 3:30pm
*
£13.68 – £14.50 per hour, depending on experience
